Winter Coat

Look at this great winter coat that I have been working on for a few days!!!  I used the Children's Corner Pattern "Casey."  This coat is a blue cordoroy with a red gingham lining... also interlined with fleece for extra warmth.  I was so happy with this pattern and recommend it to any sewers out there ready to take on a project!

For those, who would rather just buy one... I can make you one!  There are lots of color combinations and I am thinking about adding a ruffle around the hood and sleeves for a more "girly" look.

I used big buttons to make it easy to take on and off, especially if little fingers are still learning.  There is also an extra clasp to ensure the hood will stay on when they are running around!

Seriously I love it!!!

P.S. Isn't the bunny cute!  We won him at our local fair... Don't know what we were thinking! :)

Appliqueing with your Sewing Machine

I do not do a ton of hand appliqueing, but if you do not have an embroidery machine... then this is the way to go.

Here are a few tips...

1.  Use Iron On Stabilizer behind the t-shirt applique.  This will prevent the shirt from stretching as you sew on your applique.
2.  Cut out your design and arrange placement before you begin sewing.
3.  Test on a separate piece of fabric for zigzag stitch width and length.
4.  Use spray adhesive to hold fabric down onto the shirt while you sew.
5.  Take your time!  It can take a while so be patience with yourself and always have your seam ripper handy.
6.  Start by doing designs with straight lines... avoid circle for your first applique attempts.

Happy Sewing!

Fall Purse

I decided that I would randomly post "Stuff for Mama"

I sometimes get tired of sewing little people things, so I am going to take so time every so often to sew for Mama!

Today I was inspired by a purse shown on the soyouthinkyourcrafty.com blog.

I used a brown cordoroy, paired with a green cordoroy... the inside of course was a fun yellow with chocolate and hot pink bird prints.
